Anyone who lives in the area or is visiting, can come to the site and find something their looking for. This could be a business, an event, a local group, or area activities. As time progresses, we’ll include features such as guides on how to start a business here, moving here, a tour guide, and much more!

Things In Albert Lea was developed, designed, and launched by a life long resident of Albert Lea who custom coded the entire functionality and look of the site. They wanted to emphasize that there is “big city talent” within a small rural city. Using their skillset, they set forth to create that central, online location so many have asked for. This is how Things In Albert Lea was born.

In recent years, the city of Albert Lea has been looking to improve the city as whole for a successful future. With the help of the University of Minnesota Community Extension office, they sponsored a “think tank” that involved community members separated into groups. Over the course of a few months, each group met and followed the criteria set forth by this community exercise. While each group had lots of varying ideas of what Albert Lea needed to be successful, there was one thing they all agreed on; a central, online location for what Albert Lea has to offer.

Albert Lea has much to offer for shopping, food, events, and just general things to do. There is also a lot of talent many seem to overlook. Albert Lea has regionally, nationally, and even internationally recognized individuals within the community. They also have many individuals who have skills that you would expect larger metropolitans to have. In short; there’s not much of a need to look outside the city or county limits to find what you need.

To add a thing, you’ll need to create an account on the site. After that, you’ll be redirected to the log in page where you can log in right away and start adding things. You’ll see a new menu option that says “Add A Thing” and you can add a business, event, or group there. After you fill out the form, your submission will be sent to manual review where it will be published once it has been verified.
