Fishing
Albert Lea has absolutely NO shortage of fishing spots right inside city limits. Fishing is a staple activity of many residents in town year round. We have a vide variety of species to catch from panfish, bass, walleye, and northern pike! There are also many public fishing piers you can enjoy such as the one at Edgewater Park or “The Channel” by the city pool. Grab your pole and your favorite bait and head to any open spot (literally) on one of our two in-town lakes!
Walking & Biking
There are two main walking or biking paths right in town; The Blazing Star Trail or, what we call, “walking around the lake” the follows the entire shoreline of Fountain Lake. Walking or biking these paths is an integral part of our city. Albert Lea was the first Blue Zones city in the nation where we were featured on Good Morning America! Both the Blazing Star Trail and the “walk around the lake” are nature filled and refreshing!
Parks & Playgrounds
Choose from one of 27 parks within our city! Take your kid(s) to some popular spots like Edgewater Park, Eastgate Park, or Pioneer Park to let off some steam. If you need a little R&R, Edgewater Park, New Denmark Park, and Shoff Park has plenty of restful sites and sounds to recharge your batteries. Many of our parks also have baseball/softball diamonds, basketball courts, or a wide open area to practice your football throws or kick a soccer ball around!
